Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have recently had two blood test where my gamma gt has been high. My last test shows a gamma gt of 694. My kidney function is fine. I am also being investigated for an extremely slow bowel problem. I pass stools approximately once a week and have been sent for a barium enema by my gp where the bowel prep was not successful and a colonoscopy, where again the bowel prep was not successful. I am currently awaiting a second colonoscopy and an ultrasound on my abdomen. Could the two issues be related??
Hello, I can understand your concern towards severity of your symptoms 1) No this two problems i.e. high gamma GT and constipation are not interlinked. 2) Your problem of constipation with problem of unprepared bowel in each test indicate possibility of large bowel pathology. 3) Generally, such severe constipation is due to sow movement of large intestine rather any any cause which is obstructing passage of large intestine. 4) For such conditions which affect movement of large intestine, sometimes rectal manometry is required.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help you. Have a good day!
