What Could Cause Facial Papules With Small Indentation?

My husband has had small facial papules for many years, some with a small indentation; now much more numerous, forehead & cheeks. Is it possible they are keratoacanthomas; he has very oily skin, reddish skin color. He has had them for 35 years, gradually increasing in number, beginning at his hat headband, now cheeks with numerous sun exposures.
Would a glycolic peel or Retin A help?

I really appreciate your concern for your husband he has this problem since many years as you said here so this could be chronic skin condition and most probably this could be hypersensitivity reaction if I would be his doctor the I would treat him with the following medicines
1) Tab Doxycycline 100 mg once in day for 10 days
2) Tab Levocetrizine 10 mg three times in day
if this regime fails to respond then he need to see the dermatologist, hope tis information helps you have good day.
