What Could Cause Flashing Light On The Outside Corner Of The Left Eye?

I have a bright, quick flashing of light I see in the outside corner of my left eye. It happens for a short period of time, then lets up and comes again maybe an hour later. Just started this evening about 3 hours ago. I have never had such a thing before.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that you are having flashes of light in left eye.
Sudden onset of flashes of light require evaluation as it may indicate retinal problems like retinal tear or retinal hole or retinitis.
The treatment of these conditions in the initial stages is necessary to prevent late problems like retinal detachment.
Hence I advice you to consult ophthalmologist at the earliest for evaluation and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
