What Could Cause Grinding Pain In Shoulder Blade?

My shoulder has been hurting really bad it feels like a knife stabbing in muscle by my shoulder blade and when I do my arm in a windmill motion it makes grinding and popping noises. Sometimes my shoulder catches like it freezes and I have to kind of roll it a different way to move it. What is this?
