What Could Cause Heart Palpitations And High BP While Getting An Epinephrine Injection?
Thios past Monday while being injected with epinephrine for a derma abrasion on my nose my heart began to race. Blood pressure rose from 118/68 to 143/68. Staying at or near that number. The dermatologist sent me to the ER. The ER and the dertermatologist suggested that I have a stress test. Now I sense a heaviness/pressure in my chest. My primary care physician does not recommend a stress test. Am I being overly concerned
It is quite normal to have a high blood pressure and heart rate after epinephrine injection, as this is a normal reaction to the drug. It seems that you are having a panic attack. There is no reason to worry! I recommend performing a resting ECG just to be sure that nothing serious is going on!
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
