Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Cause Intermittnet, Short, Stabbing Pain In Concha Section Of Left Ear?
I have intermittent, short, stabbing pain localized to the concha section of my left ear. I have had this in the past, usually associated with cold symptoms, but now find I am having more frequent pain in the absence of cold symptoms (up to 20 times per day). What could cause this?
Dear service user, I got your question and understood your concern regarding recurrent pain in ear. The inflammation or infection of the external auditory canal (EAC),the pinna or both can lead to such pain. This is more common among those who have frequent exposure to or activities in water (swimming, surfing, kayaking). The ear trauma (eg, forceful ear cleaning, use of cotton swabs, or water in the ear canal) can also cause such inflammation. One has to rule out diabetes and immuno compromised states. You should consult an otolaryngologist who will help you best. Hope, I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Wish you good health.
