What Could Cause Itchy Rashes On Both Sides Of The Neck That Intensifies While Washing?
I went to my Dr. today due to a raised itchy rash. At first she thought it was poison ivy, but later thought shingles. It is on both sides of my neck. She prescribed Valacyclovir 1gm tablets for 7 days. The rash doesn t hurt and itches when I wash.
With due regards to your doctor, I will like to elaborate, that I do not think that it is Shingles. Shingles is almost always on one side of body and very very rare to be bilateral. Also, it is unlikely that rash is neither itchy nor painful.
To me it seems some sort of contact dermatitis, due to clothes, may be collar of shirt or the touch of neck tie etc. Hence avoidance / change of the type of cloth etc. seems a solution, if it is the cause. You may take some antiallergics, under guidance of your doctor. Local steroid application in low strength may help like hydrocortisone ointment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
