Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Cause Low BP And Dizziness While Being On Weight Loss Process?
I have been on 5 mg daily of lisinopril for borderline high blood pressure for many years. My high bp has been caused by my weight, I do believe. I have finally got my head on straight and have lost 24 pounds and have 34 to go. The last few weeks I have been having dizzy spells and getting very light headed. I thought it was maybe my bp dropping and during these spells it has been as low as 90/65. What should I do?
Welcome to healthcaremagic, Your dizziness spells and light headedness is due to low blood pressure. This low blood pressure could be due to many causes. My advice is: 1. Get your blood pressured checked agian by your physician and if it again low then your blood pressure tablet dose needs to be changed or stopped. 2. Have a died rich in salt for a couple of days 3. Drink plenty of water 4. Do regular exercise which will improve your muscle tone and improve your blood pressure. 5. Eat a proper balanced diet. Many times due to insufficient calorie intake and hypoglycemia you may feel giddy. 6. Avoid alcohol 7. Be careful when rising from lying down or sitting. Pump your feet and ankles a few times before standing up. When getting out of bed, sit upright on the edge of the bed for a few minutes before standing. Hope that answers your question. Regards, Dr.Imaad.
