What Could Cause Low Appetite, Weight Loss And Thread Like Strands In Stool In An 8-month-old?

Hello Dr My 8 month old son s bowel movements have completely changed. When I check his stools i find things like thin threads and small white cotton buts in it and he has a diharear with a bit of blood to add on to it. He is experiencing loss of appetite and losing weight. I fear it may be worms. If it is, what medicine can i give him for treating it? Oh and he s also nauseas

Hello,

I feel that by what you describe this is acute bacillary dysentery and he will require oral antibiotic and the drug of choice would be Cefixime. However, this is a prescription drug and you will require a doctor's prescription for it.
