What Could Cause Missed Periods With HPT Negative And All Tests Being Normal?

Dear doctor... I got married before 7 months.... my wife is having irregular period before and after marriage also.. after marriage she was getting period for every 40 days... but last period she had 3 months back ... we consulted doctor..... Pergnency test was negative along with she did an blood, thyriod tests nd ultrasound scanning also... the result is normal of all... finally the doctor gave her the tablet of 5 days to get period... but today is the 6th day after completing that tablet.... still she didn t got period... what is the reason plz advice.. thanks &best regards, mohammed ismail.

Hello,
If your wife is getting a period every 40 days, this means she is regular with her cycles and only, her cycles are a little prolonged. The present delay in the cycle seems to be some hormonal imbalance due to temporary ovarian malfunction and the doctor gave hormones to give a kick back to the ovaries. Withdrawal bleeding following hormone treatment can be expected 3-7 days after completion of the treatment. If no period is seen even after ten days, further evaluation is needed.
