What Could Cause Muscle Tightening Under Ribcage Followed By Soreness?

My muscles tighten up under my rib cage on the right side of my body, almost feels like my insides are shifting (if that makes any sense ). Then after the spasm is done, it s sore for a few hours, maybe even a day or so, then doesn t happen again for months. It occurs when I m sitting in a weird position or stretching at the gym , after a workout. What could this be?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Possibility of muscular spasm due to muscle strain is more in your case.
Muscular spasm is actually protective reflex to prevent further damage.
Whenever body is in awkward position, muscle damage is likely.
And so muscle spasm occurs. This is felt as muscle tightening and pain.
Your symptoms occur only after awkward position or exercise.
So this clearly indicates muscular strain and spasm.
So avoid awkward position and painful movements. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Avoid bad postures in sleep.
Apply warm water pad on affected areas. Take painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs whenever you are having pain.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
