What Could Cause My Toes To Turn Extremely Red After Surgery To Treat My Severely Broken Ankle?

Severe broken ankle. Surgery last week put in 6 screws and plate. In splint and ace bandage. Lost balance and put pressure on it. Heard crunching. Pain. Called Orth. Said ok to wait for appointment on Tues. Now when put leg down, toes turn beat red. Then when elevated, they return to normal color. What is this?

Your symptoms are suggestive of a vessel disorder on the legs. A Doppler ultrasound of the legs may be needed. You should discuss with your doctor on this issue.
