What Could Cause Numbness?

I had stitches about a week and a half ago...I got them taken out a week ago. But the area where I got the stitches is still numb, even after all this time. It is getting better day by day, but it s slow. It s been exactly six days I got the stitches taken out. Is this normal, or should I go to my doctor s office?
