What Could Cause Persistent Cough, Dizziness And Brain Fog After Being Prescribed Benzonatate, Azithromycin, And Methylprednisolone For Bronchitis?
hi I was prescribed Benzonatate 200mg, Azithromycin 250mg, and MethylIPREDNISolone 4mg for treatment of Bronchitis, after just 1 day on these meds I feel worse than before. I can’t sleep as I coughed all night long I feel dizzy and delirious brain fog and had a hallucination, i already suffer from Celiac Disease and I’m wondering if these drugs are too strong for my already weak system… should I stop taking them?
Anti-tussive are prescribed to suppress cough reflex and relieve coughing. It can cause you side effects like dizziness, light headedness, brain fog and hallucinations. Since you are suffering from celiac disease, you should inform your treating doctor. Inform the treating doctor about the symptoms that you are experiencing.
If you are suffering from stomach ulcers, ulcerative colitis, or diverticulitis you should keep your doctor informed so that the doses of the medicines prescribed can be monitored or the medicine prescribed can be replaced with medicines that suit the person better.
You can reduce the dose of antitussive that you are taking to manage hallucination and dizziness. Avoid doing heavy work & do not drive. Stay at rest. You can stop taking the medicine only after a follow up clinical examination and after informing the treating doctor. You can visit ER if required.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
