What Could Cause Pink Lump In Between Anal And Vaginal Area?

Hi, I am 21 years old and two weeks ago I noticed a pink lump between my anus and vaginal area. The lump is very painful and itchy. I am really worried because for the last two years I have been having very painful intercourse (I have only had one partner and can t be an STD). I am not sure if the two are related. I have seen my OBGYN for the painful intercourse, but she just tells me its my colon or will give me cream that I was suppose to try for months. I did try the cream for three months and It did not help. I am more worried about the lump. It is not open or hard just a little raised and pink in color.

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

According to your history the points that may help you are:
- The lesion you mentioned possibly could be perianal abscess, is a pus containing lesion that can develop due to causes like folliculitis.
- By clinical examination the exact cause of the problem can be identified. Please consult your gynecologist once and get examined.
- Meanwhile you can take a sitz bath with lukewarm water and little disinfectant solution. Analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs can help in relieving the pain. You can take local and systemic antibiotics with your doctor's advice to cure the infection.
- Regarding dyspareunia, try to rule out any possible cause of pelvic infection.

Better to undergo ultrasound once to rule out any pelvic masses which are causing dyspareunia, and proceed accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sree Gouri S. R., OBGYN
