What Could Cause Pupillary Dilation While On Medication For Hypertension And Diabetes?

Two years ago I had an eye injury from a tennis ball, resulting in a partial retinal tear. It was treated by laser stitching. No symptoms or problems since, other than that pupil was a bit larger than the other. I was told that could be permanent. Today my optometrist found that the pupillary dilation was now larger than previously. She referred me to a neuro-opthamologist.
I am a 76 year old male with medication controlled blood pressure and with medication controlled Type II diabetes. I am physically active and in otherwise good health. What could this symptom be and is there any
urgency?

Hi,

Sometimes in hypertension and diabetes third nerve gets affected but it usually spares the pupil. How is the lid and the eye movements. If that is okay, then I don't think it's because of diabetes and hypertension . It could be the old trauma only. We need to examine the third nerve only then can we be sure.

Hope I have answered your query.
