What Could Cause Recurring Red Rash On Right Side Of Neck With No Help From Changing Pillows?
when i wake up in the morning I have a red rash on the right side of my neck. IF i sleep with no p.j.top it will go away, but come back once I wear one again. This has just begin in the last month. I am 70 but in excellent health. Itried changing pillows, etc but it doesn t seem to help.
Hello, This is Dr. Klarida Paqaqako answering your question.
I read carefully your question. These 3 options are my thoughts:
1) I would give a look to the material of your top P.J, because it may have a component that might give you irritation or allergy. The fact that it goes away after you remove the possible irritant, is an indicator that you are sensitive to that particular cloth component. 2) Also, look if the rash is connected with the side in which you are sleeping. Pressure for a long time, slows circulation in the pressured area, which once removed may come like a rash from the blood overflow. 3) If that is an area that has lots of humidity and gets sweaty, it may be a predisposition for a fungal infection (which I don't think you have now since you refer it goes away). If it stays red for more then 2 days, then I would recommend to apply an antifungal cream locally.
Take care.
