Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi,I m 65 years of age weighing about 90 kg ,my kneejoints fluid has been reduced to nil and the bones have joined /rubbing against each other,is it advisable topt for a knee joint operation at this weight or do I have to reduce my weight and then go for it
With aging, it's usual to find reduced joint fluid-Synovil fluid. Its part of aging. If the patient had visited my clinic, I would have advised X-rays to asses severity of joint changes and would advise accordingly. I would try all non-surgical means of treatment like physiotherapy, home based exercises, lifestyle modification, weight reduction before advising surgical options.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Rajesh Gayakwad, Orthopedic Surgeon
