What Could Cause Severe Body Ache While On Niacin?

My body is very sore all. It is murder to sit down and get up. I have had this sympathy before but it was from taking statins. I haven’t taken these for years. I have started taking over the counter Niacin 500mg. I have been told that niacin would not cause this, but I have doubts. What else could it be?

I have seen patients who experience muscle pain and myopathy even after stopping of statins. Usually they are on long term use of statins.

Can you tell since how long you are taking it?

Niacin as such can not cause these type of side effects. I think you can try Tablet paracetamol 325 mg 8 hourly for 1-2 days which usually relieves bodyaches.
