What Could Cause Severe Headache, Painful And Tender Ears, Pain Behind Eyes And Sensitive Eyes To Light?

Hello Dr, This morning I awoke with a slight headache that turned much worse before 9:00 am, to where I literally thought my head would explode. Concurrent with the headache, I had both ears aching and tender to the touch, pain behind my eyes and I was sensitive to light (I felt a little better with my eyes closed), intermittent nausea and a very brief period with chills. I went to bed and slept for five hours. I am now feeling foggy, but much better. Thank you for your help. Chuck Monarque

Neurologist 's  Response
You are describing the symptoms of migraine headache. If this is your first episode then, I recommend being seen by a doctor who will determine what if any additional tests you may need done to be sure that it is truly a migraine headache and not something else causing your symptoms such as an infection since you describe painful ears and chills. As a neurologist and headache subspecialist I'd be happy to help you with more information if you'd like to write to me at: bit.ly/drdariushsaghafi
