What Could Cause Severe Pain In The Calf Muscles?

the other day I was stepping up to get into my husbands truck and felt something pop behind my left knee. I couldn t walk or sit in his truck without pain, my calves are so tight and painful like i have had charlie horses one right after another and severe pain. The only time it doesn t hurt is if I m not walking or standing. Do I need to be concerned and how do I get this pain to go away?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

We have to rule out possible causes like a peripheral vascular disease.

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
