What Could Cause Slight Bleeding And Menstruation For A Longer Than Usual While Having The Mirena Coil?
Good morning I have the mirena coil but was constantly having periods and light bleeding in a month totalling 10 days in all. The Dr put me on cerazette. I have been on it for a month but have now had pink light bleeding for 6 days 2 weeks after my period. Should i stop taking cerazette

Hi,
Mirena is a hormone progesterone based intrauterine, long acting contraceptive. Abnormal intermittent bleeding is one of its side effect which is controlled after about 6 months of use. Cerazette is an oral contraceptive, having same group of hormones. It apparently controlled your bleeding by increasing the hormone dose.
I think continuing it would unnecessarily increase hormonal load so you can stop it (in consultation of your treating doctor). The intermittent bleeding with Mirena can be observed and managed with other drugs till its side effect is controlled and decided about its continuation or withdrawal. Be under care of your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
