What Could Cause Small Dark Red Mark On Lower Lip?
I woke up this morning with a small dark red mark on my lower lip. It looks almost like a blood blister, but it does not appear to actually be a blister or sore as it is not raised. It doesn t hurt, but I am concerned that it could be a type of cancer, although it wasn t there yesterday. My lips were dry yesterday as I was in a plane most of the day, but not dry to the point of cracking and I applied burts bees to them throughout the day. Ideas?
Sudden overnight development of such a skin lesion over exposed area of the body could be suggestive of an insect bite reaction . You need to apply a topical steroid cream like cortisone over the affected area twice daily. Take some oral antihistamines like Benadryl or levocetrizine along to relieve the associated itching and allergy.
