General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history waking up with acid in mouth, burning sensation in stomach area, chest feels light and upper back hurts; given antacids but not helping.
All these symptoms are suggestive that you may be suffering from severe acidity, esophagitis, GERD and may be an ulcer somewhere hence antacids alone are not working.
I would advise you the following:
PPI to be started
Antacids every three hours
Cold milk, water, ice creams
No anxiety or stress as it increases the symptoms
Motility regulator like Domperidone.
Upper GI Endoscopy and motility studies to get a confirmed diagnosis and further management.
I find this answer helpful
