What Could Cause Sudden Pain In The Legs?

My son is 5 years old. Yesterday he was running around normally with no signs of any problems. This afternoon he said his legs hurt when he puts weight on them. No specific area of pain. He just doesn't want to stand. Now he is having problems walking without help. There was no tramatic injury and no fever or any other symptoms.
