What Could Cause Swelling And Redness In The Feet Of An 80-year-old?

I have slight swelling and redness on the top of my right foot. There is no pain--only very slight tenderness. I am 80 years old and in pretty good health other than having osteoporosis and some arthritis. Is it possibly a broken bone in my foot. The osteoarthritis is fairly significant at this time as I have been off any medication for several years. Thank you.

Hello,

It may be due to Contusion or blunt trauma. For further assessment you may require X-ray after orthopedician consultation. Restrict your movements.

For pain you can take tablet Acetaminophen. Use support while walking. In case of fracture you may require surgical intervention after consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
