What Could Cause Swollen Bloodshot Eyes?
my daughter is in jail and very little for medical care. I visited today to find that her right eye is very bloodshot and her top eye lid is very swollen and the swelling extending into her face near her nose bridge. There are a couple of open small sores on the outside of the lid. The nurse there told her there were two abcesses inside the upper lid and put her on doxycycline. She said she was just on doxycycline for 10 days for an ear infection and a few days ago this eye thing came on. Can you suggest what it might be and what other treatments she might try? Hot packs?

Inflammatory focus extending to eye lid eye and sores out side. Systemic anti biotic like ezy throcin 500 mg daily for 5 days.Ciprobid eye drop 4hourly combiflam tablet twice daily for 5days. Neosporine eye oint ment can be applied in eye at bedtime. In one week she should be alright.
