Hello and welcome to HCM,
Your father has a history of
varicose veins and it has been treated also.
The appearance of swelling legs and purple discoloration on the same leg could be due to development of varicose vein again in another vein.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is also a cause of swelling on the lower
limbs.
However, the scan has not revealed any clot thus the possibility of DVT is ruled out.
You need to consult your surgeon for clinical examination to rule out the presence of varicose veins.
Relevant investigations to the know the status of the veins may also be required.
Appearance of varicose vein again may require repeat surgery of the vein.
Stasis of blood in lower limbs for long durations is an important cause of varicose veins.
Regular exercise especially of the lower limbs can help to prevent the stasis of blood in lower limbs.
Thanks and take care
