What Could Cause Swollen Tonsils With No Associated Pain?
My adult son, who has mental illness, was seen by a GP yesterday. The doctor found that my son's tonsils were abnormally large for an adult (he is 34). He does not have a sore throat or pain in his tonsils. What could cause swollen tonsils with no associated pain?
Tonsils are protective tissue from infections in children. It can get enlarged due to repeated infections.Once enlarged, size does not shrink. If your son has no throat problems like recurrent sore throat, difficulty in swallowing or foul breath, then it is less likely that tonsils are causing any problem.
