What Could Cause Tightness And Pain Around The Rib Cage And Cough?

Twice now on 2 separate occasions I’ve had tightness and pain around my rib cage, 1st time after laughter both sides very tight and painful like a Charlie horse. 2 nd time only on left side tight with pain not as bad as 1st. I do also have a lingering cough, allergies.

Hi,

This tight chest pain which you have mentioned can be caused by many reasons more commonly because of infections like viral, bacterial etc. Other causes could be pneumothorax which is air outside lungs and if it persists for a prolonged time then autoimmune diseases can also cause this. mostly it can be treated by treating the cause and taking NSAIDs but every medicine should be taken only with prior consultation of your doctor.
