Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Tinnitus is a common issue, and most cases are benign and temporary. However, if this lasts for the longer period, then it should be evaluated.
Tinnitus can occur due to causes like a chronic
ear infection,
perforated eardrum,
Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders,
Acoustic Neuroma etcetera.
Tinnitus is not a disease in itself, but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness.
I would suggest you consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, X-ray MRI can help in diagnosis, and treatment can be done accordingly.
In case if ringing does not resolve, then you can be advised medicines such as tricyclic anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti-anxiety medicine like Alprazolam, as well as
Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
