for a month or so now, I ve noticed scaly circular patches of skin on some of my knuckles and fingers. I can peel the patch away to reveal slightly pink skin underneath. they do not hurt or burn. other than very dry skin I don t have any eczema or psoriasis that I am aware of. what could they be? thank you.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep possibility of either Discoid eczema Or Tinea.

Discoid eczema can present as scaly, dry or oozing, coin sized patches of dermatitis whereas Tinea commonly presents as scaly annular or circular patches with central clearing and peripheral expansion.

I would advice that you see a dermatologist for a visual confirmatory diagnosis.
An OTC antihistamine e.g cetrizine once daily can be taken for symptomatic relief of itching till the diagnosis is confirmed

take care
regards
