What Could Cottony And Rough Bumpy Feeling On Lips And Mouth Suggest?
I am having a cottony feeling in my mouth as well as a rough bumpy feeling on the inside of my lips both top and bottom and on the roof of my mouth. When looking at the bumpy areas inside my mouth, the ones on my lips seem to be very tiny white or pink bumps. What could it be and should I be concerned?
Hello, First you are explaining a mild irritation. This could be from dehydration. Winter months can be harsh on tissue. Many people breath by mouth, have dry heat without humidifiers and complain of oral symptoms. Drink plenty of water, rinse with warm salt water and be careful of diet to limit acidic foods. A Change in dental product or cosmetic use can cause this type of allergic reaction. Make sure that you do not have any vitamin deficiencies. Any change in daily medications with the side effect of dry mouth? With drynes, habits such as rubbing your tongue against your lips or pressure of teeth against your oral tissue can cause irritation from this mild trauma. Try to make a few changes and evaluate your response. Consider scheduling a dental exam to rule out an oral infection. Fungal infections or an abscess that is draining could be responsible for these symptoms. Broken or sharp teeth, grinding your teeth or gum infections are other possible findings that your dentist may be able to treat. Thank you for your inquiry.
