What Could Delayed Periods Indicate, Have Premenstrual Symptoms?
im 22yrs of age and genraly have a 28day cycle that lasts 7days. My last period was the 15th of jan early by a week and lasted only 3days i then had a pinkish spotting on the 22nd that lasted only a day. I am in a secure relationship and have reg unprotected sex (1-2days). Now for the last week i have had pms symtoms but no period. Please help! Thanks
The spotting you had on 22nd was Mittelschmerz which is some spotting at the time of ovulation. It is natural phenomenon though not a rule. Pinkish spotting may be safely ignored. It could be due to the implantation process.
You are in a childbearing age group, you are sexually active and have unprotected sexual relations; and now your periods are delayed for about a week. The dictum in such situation is suspect pregnancy unless and until proved otherwise. Your premenstrual symptoms can be safely ignored, they may show up even just before the pregnancy.
To resolve the dilemma, you have got following options:
1. Perform pregnancy test on overnight morning first urine sample. Since your periods are overdue for 7 days, the test should report reliable results.
2. Alternatively, you may opt for Beta hCG test on your blood.
I am sure this has given you clear guidelines on your actions.
