Hello dear,
Thank your for writing.
Throat infections usually manifest with
sore throat, fever,
bad breath but not
diarrhoea. Even though you might have some pain and
redness in your throat it is completely normal after the surgery. These symptoms tend to fade after the first week from the intervention. I usually suggest my patients to eat and drink cold foods and drinks that help deal with the pain.
I would describe diarrhoea as a frequent defecation (more than 4 times a day), with watery or loose stools often accompained by a feeling of emergency and/or
abdominal pain. If I understood well you defecated two times with loose green stools, which is usually not considered a big of a problem.
If the loose stools persists there is some explanation for that:
1- Antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, which comes as a side effect of the extended antibiotic that you have been using. In this case the diarrhoea will stop as soon as you discontinue the antibiotics.
2- A random diarrhoea that is not related to
tonsillectomy. I usually suggest my patients to drink of water, rehydration solutions, probiotics (ie.Yovita). If you start to feel pain you may take hyoscine butylbromide (ie.
Buscopan). If this condition persists for more than one week you may need a consult with an infectious diseases specialist.
I hope this helped.
All the best,
Dr. Alma
