I am 86 years young and I have been getting sweats during the day with out doing any activities. I can be setting watching TV and I can break out sweating on my head and running down my neck. I carry a towel around my neck not knowing when it will start. I don t have this during the night.

Welcome to hcm, There are many reasons for sweating in elderly. If it is only sweating nothing to worry .in elderly the cold and heat tolerance of the body is decreased mostly it is because of that. It may be due to thyroid hormone decrease or hypothyroidism. Any other condition which causes severe pain in the body like in severe osteoarthritis. If it is associated with chest pain it is due to myocardial infarction or heart attack. Hope this explains With regards Dr.Amarnath.
