What Could Happen If E-liquid Dosage Of An Elderly Patient Is Reduced To Once A Day, Given Her Weakness Since Starting The Medication?

My mother is 84 yrs old and had one episode with afib, it corrected itself at hospital but they put her on e liquid 2.5 2x a day.. She stays so weak she can t function and has ever since she has been on it and the Dr doesn t want to change it What would happen to cut her down to 1 a day or maybe an aspiring a day

Hi,

The aspirin works differently from the Eliquis and unfortunately cannot be substituted for it. There are alternatives anti coagulants though Eliquis is the one most commonly recommended in elderly persons. If she is not able to tolerate it, then her doctor may want to consider switching her to one of these alternatives eg: Pradaxa or Xarelto. Using Eliquis once daily is not effective dosing.
