What Could Hereditary Itchy Bumps With Occasional Flaring On Arms Indicate?

hello, i have small itchy bumps on the outside of my upper arms, they don t always itch but flare up every once in a while and i don t remember them not being there, and about half of my mom s side of the family has them too but they re really annoying me and i want to know what it is and what to do about it

Hi.
As per your case history you are having keratosis pilaris, my treatment advice is -
1. As it is hereditary, there will be seasonal exacerbations.
2. Apply a tretinoin 0.025% cream once at night on lesions.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching.
4. Other treatment options are oral vitamin A, isotretinoin, topical benzoyl peroxide, chemical peels done only after consulting a dermatologist.
