Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
In April I had blood work done (and I fasted for this bloodwork), my tryglycerides were 92. Last week I visited the doctor and they decided to do bloodwork again (this time I didn t fast) and my tryglicerides were 215. Should I be concerned or is this because I didn t fast. I have Celiac Disease so my diet is very limited.
Hi welcome to HCM. High triglyceride content in your case has to treated promptly to avoid atherosclerotic changes taking place in the blood vessels, which can have serious impact on the cardiovascular system.Coeliac disease is very much prone to cause lipid abnormalities.Drugs like statins and fibrates are essential to reduce the lipid levels.Regular physical exercise in the form of 20 min brisk walk for 5 days a week is essential.A screening 2 dimensional echo and semiannual lipid profile is needed on follow up.Consult your cardiologist for further care. Thank you.
