What Could Increased Heart Rate, Ringing In Ears With Breathing Difficulty Indicate?

Hello, I was just sitting down at my kitchen table and then all of a sudden my heart started beating really quickly and I felt like my throat was closing in on me and my ears also began ringing and I could hear my heart beat. This all lasted for about 6 or 7 seconds but I now feel as though I have less lung capacity and a full breath of air feels almost like a short breath. The episode happened about 5 minutes ago. I am highly active and eat fairly healthy with only eating unhealthy foods rarely and in moderation. I lift heavy 4-5 days a week and do cardio at least 3 days a week. I have never smoked and drink socially 1-2 times per week. I am adopted so I do not know my family history. I am also 23 years old. What happened to me? Is this an indicator of something more than just an episode? Thank you.

HI

Thanks for posting your query.

By going through your description I feel what you had was an attack of ARRHYTHMIA .

Arrhythmia is a condition where the rhythm of the heart becomes abnormal and the heart beats in an erratic way. Because of this the blood pumped by the heart gets reduced and hence the blood to brain also get reduced , producing all the symptoms.

Though it has happened only once now , still I would recommend you to get thorough evaluation for arrhythmia as it can be fatal sometimes .

Consult a cardiologist for this problem . He shall do certain tests like EKG, Treadmill test , ECHO to see what problems is causing you this problem .

Hope this information was useful to you.

Any clarifications feel free to ask.
