What Could It Be If Am Having Severe Pain In The Back, Thigh, Calf Which Has No Relief From Shots, Muscle Relaxers?

Hello. In early November I began having severe lower back pain. Within a week the pain was also in both hips and my right thigh. I went to the doctor and was prescribed an anti inflammatory. After a few days with no improvement, I called my doctor and was prescribed the muscle relaxer, Flexeril. I was still getting no relief and my pain was getting worse every day. I saw my doctor again and the next day, I had steroid injections in my back at L5. Three days time passed and my back and hips were feeling much better. My back however, was much worse. It s now been about six weeks and my pain is severe! My right thigh feels like someone has beaten me non stop. I have constant muscle ache along with shots of pain that feel like I m being hit with a tazer electric shock. I m also experiencing pin point stabbing pains on a regular basis, several times an hour, as with the pain that feels like an electric shock. For the past two days, I ve now begun having pain in my calf in addition to my thigh. I don t see my doctor again until 12/27/13, but I m concerned about what might be going on. Are there any questions I should ask my doctor? My doctor did tell me he believes my pain is coming from a pinched nerve. I ve had no other testing, just x-rays back in November at my first appointment with the doctor.

Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
It appears that you might be having the lumbar spondylosis or sciatica, for that you may need to have M.R.I. for confirmation.
So i advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.
I usually prescribe t my patient with such symptoms neurotropic injections for 10 consecutive days, and then periodically.ofloxacin, mefenamic acid, and paracetamol for 10 days only. I advise to sleep on a hard bed.
Avoid taking potato, tomato, egg, chicken, and sea foods.
Take more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and
protein rich foods to hasten recovery.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
