Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...our grndchild was born yesterday and has been immediately put into the neo-natal unit because the white cell count is too low. He will not feed naturally. he was born two weeks late and had to be induced. what does this suggest?

A low white blood cell count in a newborn suggests infection. In medical terms it is called Neonatal sepsis. Inefction might be acquired intrauterine or during delivery process. A 5-7 days course of antibiotics will usually be needed.
