What Could Low Platelet Count With Petechiae On Legs Suggest?

I have low platelets and just noticed petechiae on my leg (an area of about 2 inches in diameter). It was not there a couple of hours ago. It seems to have appeared pretty spontaneously as there was no trauma to my leg. Do I need to go to the ER? I have marked the area to see if it spreads; in the hour since I noticed it, the area has not increased.

Hi,

Yes you need to go to the ER as early as possible. Low platelet count with petechiae on legs suggest various things like Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, TTP, etc.

Thanks!
