Hello,
Peeling of skin on fingertips can be due to multiple causes. It is more common in people who are prone to develop dryness. Contact with harsh detergents and chemicals, scented soaps, etc., trauma to fingers can also cause peeling. It can also be associated with certain drug reactions, infections, and some other medical conditions.
Management includes:
• Wash your hands with a moisturizing/Syndet soap.
• Apply a thick moisturizer with white soft
paraffin liberally after drying your skin 2 to 3 times a day.
• Wear gloves while washing dishes and cutting the vegetables.
• Avoid contact with harsh chemicals and detergents. Short term application of mid potent topical
steroids may also help.
It generally heals spontaneously though recurrences can be common. If it persists, contact your
dermatologist to rule out keratolysis exfoliativa or
dyshidrotic eczema.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
