What Could Purple Tinge Above The Upper Lip Of A Toddler Indicate?
My three and a half year old boy has slightly purple looking very tiny speckled skin appearance just above his upper lip. Very like the so called moustache effect if he had drank from a wide top bottle. It won t go away with washing and is obviously in the skin. It s shaped like a Simi circle exactly the width of his mouth and projecting almost up to the nose. He did drink juice yesterday from a wide top bottle but the rash effect didn t appear until later. No other visible symptoms!!!!
The purple tinge on above the level of the upper lip of your child could be irritant contact dermatitis.
It is due to contact with the rubber of that feeding bottle. Change the feeding bottle immediately. Silicone gel rubber is safe and preferable. Follow aseptic precautions while feeding your child.
Apply Mometasone and Fusidate cream above the upper lip area. After 1 hour wash it again. Hydroxyzine syrup will give good relief. If not relieving consult good dermatologist.
