Hello, There are several causes of red and itchy vagina including- 1. Bacterial vaginosis- caused by Gardnerella due to imbalance of normal flora of vagina. 2. Vaginal thrush caused by candida due to decreased natural defence by some conditions like diabetes, pregnancy, contraceptive used, HRT. 3. Trichomoniasis vaginalis is always sexually transmitted infection. 4. Valval dermatitis due to very sensitive skin to some substances like detergents, soap, perfume etc. So consult a gynaecologist for physical examination and further management. Go for PAP smear, vaginal swab examination, biopsy, total blood count. Try to avoid such things that can aggravate your problem. Follow the instructions provided by your treating doctor for antibiotic. Take care bye.
