What Could Severe Cough Post Inhaling Alpha Lipoic Acid Pills Suggest?
I inhaled an alpha lipoic acid tablet and after several minutes of intense coughing it came out. It was a white pill, now covered in a slightly reddish liquid. When coughing, I was wheezing and felt like I might not be able to breathe at all if it kept up. But, it did come out. Now I m wondering if I need to be concerned about infection, etc. Thanks.
Welcome to HCM Alpha-lipoic acid is a vitamin-like chemical called an antioxidant. It is used for diabetes and nerve-related symptoms of diabetes including burning, pain, and numbness in the legs and arms. When you tried to inhale the contents, it would have entered your larynx and the air pipes and produced a spasm. This can be by the physical presence of the material or allergy to the material. There is not much chance of infection if the inhalation was not done in a clean environment and the body would have taken care of the intruding chemical. Please do not attempt this again. It can be life threatening. I am available if you have more queries. Take Care
