On my upper inner thigh I have a skin tag. About a quarter of an inch from the tag I have developed what looks like pimple. It developed in a few hours during the day. I was wearing extremely tight pants and did sweat a lot in that area. The pimple had gotten more and more sore and there is now a hard spot around it about in inch in diameter.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
The red sore pimple Or bump is most likely a boil/furuncle. A furuncle is a bacterial infection of the skin and soft tissue, the infection gaining entry into the skin from the hair follicle. Sweating and rubbing/friction being factors that contribute to its causation. The surrounding hard and tender area is likely due to the infection spreading to the neighboring areas/tissue (cellulitis). If I was the treating dermatologist I would have started you on a course of an empirical oral antibiotic. My choice of oral antibiotic is either a penicillin(flucloxacillin) Or a cephalosporin (Cephalexin). An OTC pain killer e.g Ibuprofen would help you symptomatically with the pain. Topically you may use an OTC topical antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin ointment twice daily for a week. The skin tag can be easily removed/ridden off by radiofrequency cautery. I would suggest that you visit a dermatologist for the needful.
