What Could Sore Skin With Hair Growth On Scars Of Wrist Suggest?

Thick hair growth after operation on wristI am a female and I broke my wrist 3 months ago and had a plaster cast on. When the cast was removed my skin was sore and thick hair started to grow on the area around where the scars are from the operation.
This hair has continued to grow and is now quite long and very dark, not only on my wrist but on the back of my hand. This is embaressing as the hair on my arms is usually quite fair and does not show on my hands at all. I am not sure if perhaps the surgeon shaved my arm when I had the operation and this is why it has now grown, or maybe this is hormonal?
Will this hair just disappear and go back to normal? How long will this take as it has been getting longer for over a month now? Thanks
