What Could Sore Throat, High Fever, Diarrhea And Foul Breath Indicate?

My four year old has had a fever of 102 for three days now. It goes away when I give her motrin but comes back as soon as the medicine wears off. She said her throat hurts. Has a stuffy nose. She also has had dierrehea and really bad breath. What could it be?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello. Thank you for your question. typically, this combination of symptoms is due to a virus. With fluids, rest, and a fever reducer if needed, viruses generally resolve on their own after 7-10 days. However, this could also be due to a bacterial infection like Strep pharyngitis, for example. This requires antibiotic treatment. I recommend you consult with your doctor so the correct diagnosis can be made and the appropriate treatment plan implemented.
